Where it comes from?

“Like a Boss” is a meme that originated from a music video by The Lonely Island. The video begins with Andy Samberg (The Boss) receiving a performance review from a superior, played by Seth Rogen. He lists fairly mundane activities, ending each line of the song with “like a boss” (“talk to corporate, approve memos, lead a workshop, remember birthdays, direct workflow, my own bathroom, micromanage, promote synergy”). However, he soon starts listing activities that are more and more bizarre, such as hitting on a coworker named Debra, then getting rejected by her, calling a sex line and crying, “sucking a dude’s dick”, “sucking his own dick”, meeting a giant fish and “fucking its brains out”, turning into a jet, bombing Russia, and crashing into the sun. The video ends with his death, showing a close-up of his tombstone, which is engraved with the words “He was Da Best”. Rogen asks him to confirm what he said, in disbelief that he really “chops his balls off and dies”. Samberg aggres, but denies ever having said he committed auto-fellatio, saying “Naw, that ain’t me.” Samberg then keeps repeating the words “I’m the boss” as the annoyed Rogen leaves.¹
